Appleford Estate Wedding
Sonya and Brian had the most perfect wedding day at the most beautiful garden wedding venue located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, The Appleford Estate. Their wedding was impeccably planned by my favorite planners, Jen and Caitlin of The Joy Standard.
Sonya and Brian got ready at The Rittenhouse Hotel in Rittenhouse Square, which is where they did their first look. After a few photos in Rittenhouse Square, we traveled to the venue, which was so close on the main line of Philadelphia.
An Exquisite Garden Venue
This was my first time shooting there, and I was so happy to see that The Appleford Estate had so many exquisite garden locations to take photos from the stunning boxwood gardens to the romantic rose garden. It is easy to see why they would hold so many wedding receptions here! The whimsical ceremony arch covered in flowers was one of my favorite features. This was my first outdoor ceremony of the year and I was so ready for it!
Outdoor Wedding Reception
The tent covered the patio that backed up to the historic house and the rustic stone walls were the perfect backdrop for photos. Cocktail hour was on the lawn and we were so lucky to get a beautiful day since it had poured rain all morning! As a light and airy wedding photographer I love a good outside reception area with beautiful natural light. There were so many beautiful details for me to photograph!
After a beautiful dinner and some sunset photos in the formal gardens, the dance floor was full of guests having the best time.
There are so many beautiful wedding venues in the Philadelphia area, but Appleford Estate is such a magical setting and definitely my new favorite event venue and the perfect place to hold any special event!
Legacy
One of my favorite parts of the day is when we took the group Villanova photo. Brian attended Villanova University and now his son is a rising sophomore there. They invited the president of the University to give a blessing before dinner. After, we took a group Villanova photo in which there were dozens of alums present! Funny story- Villanova was my first choice when I was applying to colleges. Ultimately, I attended Gettysurg College instead after getting waitlisted at Villanova.
