Family Photography
I first got into photography right after my son, Lucas was born. At the time, I was really into weddings and was doing some styling and even had an Etsy wedding shop and a wedding blog. For Christmas that year, my dad gave me my first Nikon camera and even though I was so into weddings, I just wanted to learn to use it to take cute pictures of Lucas. By the time Riley was born, I decided I wanted to be a family photographer.
Eventually, I made the connection between my love for weddings and becoming a wedding photographer, but it was a bit of a windy path. And although I do love shooting weddings, I never lost my love of family photography. Being a wedding photographer definitely made me a stronger family photographer. And let me tell you- family photography is not always as easy as it looks- its always an adventure, and its ALWAYS worth it.
My strategy with family photos is to have fun, BE FUN (hint: make everything a game!) and to let the kids be kids! Also, don’t be afraid to crack a few potty jokes 🙂

Love getting a few pics of mom and dad alone.
I love this classic shot. It’s perfect for toddlers and almost always gets a smile! Who doesn’t love “swinging” with mom and dad?!
The little ones are always on the move. It’s easy for parents to get a little stressed when their kids don’t sit still during our session. But I promise you I’m getting the shots we need!
